Lenses Most People Never Hear About

A backup pair is great. But a second pair can also be the pair that fixes what your everyday glasses don't - the 4 pm screen headache, the chin-lift at the monitor, the sunglasses you never have with you.

Most people wear one kind of lens for everything. Lens makers quietly build designs for one job done well: single-vision lenses with a built-in boost for screen-heavy days, desk lenses that make a whole monitor sharp without hunting for the sweet spot, and magnetic clips that turn a frame you already own into sunglasses or readers. We carry all of them at Perfect Focus Eyecare in Chandler. Here is what they do and who they are for.

Here from the second-pair promo? Any lens on this page can be your second pair. See the promo pricing, then ask us how it applies to the lens you want.

Tired eyes from screens? Single-vision lenses that work a little harder

If you wear single-vision glasses and your eyes feel heavy after a day of phone, laptop and monitor, the fix is not a progressive. It is a single-vision lens with a small near boost built into the lower part, so your eyes do less focusing work up close. You wear it all day like a normal pair - the difference shows up at 4 pm.

Ez

Essilor Eyezen®

Essilor's everyday digital lens: a single-vision design with a gentle near boost for phones, tablets and laptops, plus blue-violet light filtering built into the lens. Looks and wears like any other pair.

Best for: single-vision wearers roughly 18 to 45 who spend hours a day on screens.

Rx

Shamir Relax™

Shamir's take on the same idea: a single-vision lens with up to +0.65 of near support in the bottom of the lens - enough to take the strain out of a long day up close, subtle enough that you forget it is there.

Best for: 20s to 40s, lots of near work, not ready for a progressive.

Progressive wearer at a desk all day? Lenses built for the monitor

A progressive gives you far, middle and near in one lens - but the middle zone is narrow, and at a monitor you end up lifting your chin to find it. An occupational lens flips the priorities: it gives up the far distance and spends that space on a wide, relaxed near-to-mid zone. These live at your desk - they are not for driving.

Pc

Shamir Computer™

Clear from reading distance out to about 5 feet. The widest, most comfortable view of a monitor you can get: keyboard, screen and the papers beside it all sharp without moving your head.

Best for: anyone in progressives or readers who spends the day at one computer.

Ws

Shamir WorkSpace™

The same design with more reach: clear from reading distance out to about 10 feet, so you can look up from the desk to a coworker, a whiteboard or across the shop without changing glasses.

Best for: teachers, pharmacists, nurses, stylists - anyone who works close up and mid-room.

Computer and WorkSpace lenses are fit in person - we take a couple of measurements on your frame so the zones land where you actually look.

Chemistrie® Clips - one frame, several lenses

Chemistrie magnetic clip lens lifting off a blue frame, showing the two tiny magnets set into the prescription lens

A Chemistrie clip is a second lens cut to the exact shape of your frame and held on by tiny magnets set into your own prescription lenses - the two small dots in the picture. It snaps on in a second and comes off just as fast, and because it is cut to your frame, nobody can tell it is a clip.

  • Classic - a polarized sun layer in grey or brown. The sunglasses that are always with you.
  • Sport - the sun layer for your active frames.
  • Style - mirrored and fashion tints.
  • Reader - adds reading power over your distance lenses, so one frame is your distance glasses and your readers.

The best time to order a clip is with a new pair, since the magnets go in when we make your lenses. Love the glasses you already have? Ask - we can often add magnets to the lenses you own.

Which one is right for you?

  • Single vision, lots of screens, eyes tired by evening - Eyezen or Shamir Relax.
  • Progressives or readers, all day at one monitor - Shamir Computer.
  • Progressives or readers, desk plus the room - Shamir WorkSpace.
  • Sunglasses or readers without carrying a second frame - a Chemistrie clip.
  • A plain backup pair at a great price - the second-pair promo.

Not sure? Tell us how you spend your day and we will point you at the right one - or tell you honestly that your current lenses are the right call.
