Myopia Management for Children

Slowing nearsightedness before it becomes a lifelong burden.

Is Your Child's Vision Getting Worse Every Year?

If your child's prescription keeps increasing at each annual exam, you're not alone  -  and you're not helpless. Myopia (nearsightedness) in children is increasing at an alarming rate across the country, and the East Valley is no exception. The old approach was to update the prescription and come back next year. We now know there's a better way.

Why Myopia Progression Matters

A little nearsightedness feels manageable. But myopia that progresses unchecked through childhood and adolescence leads to higher prescriptions, thicker lenses, and  -  more importantly  -  a significantly elevated lifetime risk of serious eye diseases including retinal detachment, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. Slowing progression early isn't just about convenience. It's about protecting your child's long-term vision health.

What We Offer

Stellest Lenses

Stellest are daily-wear eyeglass lenses designed specifically to slow the progression of myopia in children. Developed by Essilor, these lenses have been shown in clinical studies to slow myopia progression by an average of 67% compared to standard lenses. Your child wears them like any pair of glasses  -  no special routine, no contacts required. For younger children or those not ready for contacts, this is often our first recommendation.

MiSight Contact Lenses

MiSight is FDA-approved daily disposable contact lenses designed to slow myopia progression. Clinical studies show they reduce progression by approximately 59%. They're a great fit for motivated kids who are ready for contacts and want freedom from glasses during sports and activities. Many children adapt to MiSight quickly and love the independence it offers.

Our Program  -  Not Just a Product, a Partnership

When you start a myopia management program with us, we don't hand you a box of lenses and wish you luck. We schedule follow-up visits to measure how your child's eyes are responding, track progression over time, and adjust the approach if needed. Most parents tell us these rechecks give them real peace of mind  - especially after making a meaningful investment in their child's vision. You'll know whether it's working, and so will we.

What Does Myopia Management Cost?

Dedicated myopia management programs represent an additional investment beyond a standard exam and glasses. Most vision insurance plans cover the eye exam but not the myopia management lenses or contacts specifically. We'll review your coverage with you and give you a clear picture of out-of-pocket costs before you commit to anything.

The cost of managing myopia early is almost always less  -  financially and medically  -  than the cost of higher prescriptions, complications, and potential treatments later in life.

When Should We Start?

The earlier the better. We recommend discussing myopia management at your child's annual exam as soon as progression is noticed  -  typically between ages 6 and 12 is when intervention has the greatest impact. If your child's prescription has increased at two or more consecutive exams, it's time to have the conversation.
